Match Report -
Hyde retain the Ray Stanley Memorial Trophy
By Six Yard Sam
Celtic went deservedly two up in this pre-season fixture. Adam Oakes opened the scoring in the opening quarter of an hour, and then set up the second at the start of the second half, dropping the ball off to Andrew Smart who unleashed a forty-yard rocket into the top corner leaving the crowd speechless.

Five minutes later and Hyde were back in it when Matthew Tipton found enough space in the box to reduce the deficit to just a goal. Hyde looked to have thrown the game away minutes later when Nathan Wharton allowed his temper to erupt and his head-butt saw him shown a straight red. However, Celtic seemed to lose a bit of focus, and with just seven minutes left on the clock, substitute Dale Johnson rode his challenges to smash home the equaliser for the Tigers, and this was followed up with a Paul Gedman drive a couple of minutes later that went in off the post.

It was an encouraging performance from Celtic during a match not befitting the title of friendly.
