Match Preview :- Morpeth Town - Saturday October 1st, 2022 (15:00:00)

Celtic face Morpeth Town at Bower Fold on Saturday. Morpeth are currently tenth in the league on fifteen points, four points and seven places above Celtic. Kick off 3pm. Tickets are available online or on the gate.

Morpeth’s away form is the inverse of their home form, having won one away, and lost three. At home, they lost one and won three. They hold the record with Lancaster for the most goals scored in a game at nine, when they beat them 6-3 in Morpeth in their last match and have not lost at home since the opening home game to Guiseley. Away they beat Liversedge, but have lost to Warrington Town, South Shields and, most recently, Radcliffe. Their half-time score in every away match was also the final score.

Morpeth are second most attacking team, with only Warrington Rylands having scored more, however, Morpeth have scored their twenty goals in fewer matches. In their four away matches, they have failed to score twice, been unable to keep a clean sheet and scored five, mostly in their 4-1 win over Liversedge. Morpeth score an average of 2.1 goals per game overall, with 1.2 away from home, whilst conceding 1.8 goals per away match from 1.6 overall. Their top scorer is Jack Foalle, on four, though Dale Pearson and Ryan Wombwell are right behind on three apiece.

Celtic have a good record against Morpeth, though we’ve only met three times thanks to the truncated covid seasons. The last meeting in Morpeth, saw Celtic come from behind after a late goal by Raul Correia to snatch a deserved draw, whilst both Morpeth’s visits to Bower Fold in 2021 and 2020 saw Celtic win by two goals, 2-0 in the last match (two headers from Ioan Evans off corners) and 3-1 in the first, with goals from Lewis Salmon, Scott Sephton and Matty Makinson.

In Morpeth’s last match, the 6-3 home win over Lancaster, Morpeth lined up as:
1. Dan Lowson
2. Ryan Wombwell
3. Christopher Reid
4. Ben Sayer
5. Jeff Henderson
6. Michael Turner
7. Jack Foalle
8. Josh King
9. Sam Fishburn

1. Greg Hall
2. Domaine Rouse
3. Louis Danquah
4. Tom Miller
5. Dahrius Waldron
6. Godwin Abadaki
7. Cameron Darkwah
8. Moses Yoak
