On Tuesday night, Celtic host Altrincham in the Cheshire Senior Cup (kick off 7:45pm), weather permitting. Altrincham are currently sixteenth in the National League North on twenty points, the league above Celtic, though they have played two to four games less than the rest of the league thanks to their exploits in the FA Cup this season.
Altrincham have been very consistent this season, winning five, drawing five and losing five. In their last six matches, they have twice won 5-0, beating Leamington and Hereford at home 5-0 and 5-1 respectively. The three away games between these saw them draw two and lose one. In the league, they have yet to win away from home this season, their worst result being a 5-0 defeat at Boston. In the cups they have been performing better away from home, beating Southport 3-1 in the FA Cup, and twice beating York City 1-0, in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy. Their most recent match was in the FA Cup when they were beaten 2-1 away at Portsmouth.
With four of the ten goals in Cup competitions coming from Tom Peers, he's leading their cup scoring chart, but overall, Josh Hancock and is on sixteen, while Jordan Hulme is on fifteen. They have scored ten goals in seven cup games, while conceding four. They have kept three clean sheets, and scored in every match.
Over the last thirty years, Altrincham have visited Bower Fold twenty times competitively. They have won four of those visits and Celtic have won thirteen. Their last visit here was in 2017, when we drew 0-0. Celtic's last win over them here five visits in 2011 when we won 5-1 in the league with braces from Connor Jennings, Phil Marsh and a an additional goal from Greg Wilkinson.
