Match Preview :- Chorley - Saturday September 16th, 2017 (15:00:00)

On Saturday, Celtic face a tough challenge to get through to the next round of the FA Cup when we host Chorley. Chorley are currently twelfth in the National League North, having won four and drawn three to earn fifteen points so far this season. Three of those wins came in their last four matches. There will be a match centre and Twitter feed for this match.

Chorley have had a poor start to the season by their standards, though they won 1-0 on the opening day away at Kidderminster, they followed this up with a winless streak that saw them lose 1-0 at home to Salford, draw 1-1 at home to Curzon, and lose 4-1 away at Harrogate. A 2-0 loss away at Boston and two goalless draws at home to Brackley and away at Bradford finished their poor August. During this period, they scored three in six games, while conceding eight. September has been better, winning their opening three games 2-0 and 4-1 at home to York and Darlington, then winning away 2-0 at North Ferriby, but their tour of the eastern clubs came unstuck losing 2-0 away at freshly promoted Blyth.

With an improved September they've settled in at a goal per game for both scoring and conceding, with eleven scored and eleven conceded. Their top scorers so far are Jason Walker and Josh Wilson, both of whom have three. Scott Leather is right behind on two. Their away form has seen them win just once on the road in the last five, the 2-0 win at North Ferriby, however, this season, they have kept five clean sheets, but failed to score five times.

In the last thirty years, we've met Chorley fifteen times. Celtic have won three, and Chorley have won eight of those encounters. They've been to Bower Fold eight times, seven league visits and a cup visit. The FA Trophy match was a replay in 2014 after Celtic had almost squeaked through at Chorley with two late goals from Paul Ennis and Liam Dickinson, but a stoppage time equaliser from Andy Teague forced the replay that Chorley won 2-1. Our last five meetings since that game have seen Celtic fail to score a single goal against Chorley, with four 1-0 wins to Chorley and a goalless draw. The last meeting at Bower Fold in April 2017 was 1-0 to Chorley.

In their last match, the 2-0 away defeat to Blyth, Chorley lined up as:
1. Matt Urwin
2. Matt Challoner
3. Adam Blakeman
4. Andy Teague
5. Scott Leather
6. Stephen Jordan
7. Nick Haughton
8. Josh O'Keefe
9. Marcus Carver
10. Jason Walker
11. Jake Cottrell

Celtic's last match was the 1-0 home defeat to Buxton in which Celtic lined up as:
1. Joe Slinn
2. Danny Morton
3. Lee Neville
4. Tom Brown
5. Luke Ashworth
6. Alex Honeyball
7. Aidan Chippendale
8. Oli Roberts
9. Liam Dickinson
10. Sebastian Julien
11. Theo Bailey-Jones

All bets are off for the form books for this game, Celtic can put the league results behind them and concentrate on getting through to the next round, though it has to be said, with Celtic missing a few key players in recent weeks, Greg Wilkinson, Joe Garvin, Matty Wolfenden and Jake Charles that Chorley will be the bookies favourites.
