Match Preview :- Marine - Tuesday August 22nd, 2017 (19:45:00)

On Saturday, Celtic host Marine for the first time since 2004. Marine finished last season in eighteenth place and are currently in twenty-first place having won once at home this season at home to Workington, when they won 2-0. There will be a match centre and Twitter feed for this game.

Marine had a good end to last season, losing just twice in their final ten games, with their last away loss against Grantham back in March. This season, however, in their only away game, they were beaten 5-0, again by Grantham. Their only win this season was against Workington, a game they won 2-0.

Their top scorer last season was Daniel Mitchley, who scored eighteen goals, twice that of his closest rival, former Celt, Kurt Sherlock. They scored sixty-two goals, at a rate of 1.35 per game, and conceded seventy-four at a rate of 1.6 goals per game. They kept eleven clean sheets and failed to score thirteen times. This season, they have failed to score twice, and kept one clean sheet.

We've met Marine a lot over the years. Our last meeting, at Marine in 2006, saw them beat us in the FA Cup 3-2, whilst their last visit to Bower Fold was in April 2004, a game that finished 1-1, with Phil Eastwood scoring for Celtic in the first attack. Celtic's last win at Bower Fold over Marine, was a 2-1 win in September 2002, with Chris Denham scoring both our goals. Marine's last win at Bower Fold was in February 2000, when they beat us 3-0. In thirteen visits, Celtic have won eight and drawn three.

In Marine's last match, the 1-0 home defeat to Barwell, Marine lined up as:
1. Germano Mendes
2. John Shaw
3. Peter Wylie
4. Adam Hughes
5. Michael Grogan
6. Billy Smart
7. James Murray
8. Vinny Bailey
9. Danny Mitchley
10. Dean Shacklock

In Celtic's last match, the 1-0 away defeat to Rushall Olympic, Celtic lined up as:
1. Joe Slinn
2. Adam Jones

4. Andrew Langford
5. Luke Ahsworth
6. Alex Honeyball
7. Theo Bailey-Jones

Celtic really need to get their season back on track with a win on Tuesday. After three games we are in nineteenth on goal difference. A win could lift us into the top ten, as it's still early days.
