Celtic's U21 side finally get their league season up and running this weekend when they face Tranmere Rovers at Stockport Sport Village on Sunday. The tough opening clash, which kicks off at 4.30pm, follows a truncated pre-season and the cancellation of last weekend's fixture against Witton Albion after their opponents were affected by positive coronavirus tests within their squad.

Stalybridge have kept the core of the team who had an impressive first campaign in the North West U21 Development League last season, while adding some new faces to provide the competition for places new manager Matt Ross was looking for. A 3-1 friendly victory over Abbey Hey U21s last week saw last years top marksmen Josh McVety (2) and Joe Doran again on the scoresheet and Ross will be hopeful the promising early signs continue in to the Tranmere game.

There's free entry at Stockport Sports Village for spectators, but everyone is required to scan the QR code on entry and remember to social distance in the stands.
