Stalybridge Celtic Ladies were defeated 11-0 by Hyde in their second friendly match of pre-season although the game showed big signs of improvement with several new players gelling together.

Abbie Turner opened the score for Hyde within the first two minutes of the match kicking off after a few tackle attempts from Celtic.

Turner managed to prevent Celtic scoring when they had the ball and were close to goal. Celtic’s Ladies gave it everything they had got but Hyde’s defence was strong.

Turner scored for the second time in the 13th minute, with Celtic’s Annabel Bailey following closely behind.

Celtic had a chance on 17 minutes however the ball was cleared by Deana Pickles just inches ahead of the goal.

Turner completed her hat-trick in the 20th minute.

Maisie Malone from Hyde saw a shot saved by Charlotte Murphy before Anna Genders scored Hyde’s fourth on 25 minutes.

Kayleigh Dyson attempted to score fifth goal in the 28th minute but her shot was saved by Murphy.

Paige Connelly scored a header to make it six and seventh with the latter from the penalty spot.

Laura Day made it seven before Turner scored her fourth to make it eight.

Malone, Connelly and Turner completed the scoring for Hyde.

Celtic are next playing on Sunday 22nd August away at Altrincham Hale (15:00).
