Celtic are pleased to announce the signing of striker Kyle Hawley following his departure from Morecambe.

The 20-year-old forward joins Celtic following the expiry of his contract with League Two side Morecambe.

Originally from Oldham, Kyle started his career at Morecambe and was awarded a professional contract in May 2018 after picking up the Academy 2nd Year Player of the Year Award during the previous season.

He made his first-team debut coming off the bench in a 3-1 defeat away at Cheltenham Town in April 2019.

Kyle is no stranger to non-league football having spent time on loan with Skelmersdale United, Witton Albion, Lancaster and most recently FC United of Manchester earlier last season.

He made four appearances for FC United, scoring the winner in a 2-1 win at Whitby Town.

On joining Celtic, Kyle said: "I'm really excited for next season and looking forward to hopefully getting a lot of games under my belt and gaining more experience, I can't wait for it!"

Manager Simon Haworth was pleased to seal another signing: "I'm so pleased to have Kyle sign. He's a big striker which will give us a bit of presence up top which is what we've been looking for.

"He fits the right age in terms of what we are trying to do and already has been a couple of years professional at Morecambe.

"He has a few rough edges that we want to knock off him to try and make him in to a real target man but he's got the raw materials, he is big, strong and got good mobility.

"I'm looking forward to working with him, especially being a target man myself during my career.

"I'm really pleased he's come on board to give us a bit of physical presence up top."
