Stalybridge Celtic is proud to announce Simon Haworth as its new manager. Simon, 41, is a real football man having played for Cardiff, Wigan and Wales in his career. He has impressed immensely in his first managerial role at Clitheroe and joins Celtic with the task of turning things around.

Chairman Rob Gorski said: 'Simon is intelligent, knows the game inside out, has great knowledge of the Evo-Stik leagues and I love his philosophy. He likes to play a high tempo, high pressing game using pacey young players who are hungry to achieve. Previously, we have chosen more household names in non-league football but sadly, with hindsight, they all failed. This time, although we had a number of outstanding candidates, Simon's desire, knowledge and ambition impressed the whole board.'

Simon said 'I'm delighted at the opportunity and I cant wait to re-energise the club and move it forward. I'm really looking forward to bringing young hungry players in who play for the shirt and we will play an exciting high energy, attacking brand of football.

'It's hugely important that we pull the whole club together and the supporters have a huge part to play and I look forward to regular communication with the fans. Let's get this club on the front foot again!'
