Our over 50's Walking Football Team, Vintage Celtic, were back at The Saltworks in Frodsham yesterday for the Walking Football Tournament as part of the annual 'Frodsham Festival'.

Having won the Tournament last year, we headed down the M56 quite optimistic of bringing the Trophy back to Bower Fold for the second year running.

In between wind, rain and bright sunshine, we sadly failed to make it to the Final, but put in some great performances, with the eventual winners, Barnsley Leggy Mambos (National Walking Football Champions 2014 & 2015), stating that we were the best team they faced on the day.

Scores were as follows -

Game 1 - W 3-0 v Rothwell (Leeds)
Game 2 - L 0-1 v Everton FC
Game 3 - W 1-0 v Widnes
Game 4 - L 0-1 v Barnsley Leggy Mambos

So after a short trip back to HQ (The Lord Stamford!) planning for our next trip has begun, when we travel over to Leeds for the Jules Rimet Anniversary Trophy on Saturday 30th July, before the Cheshire FA Festival in Northwich on 6th August....busy times ahead for Vintage Celtic.

If you would like to get involved playing the beautiful game at a slower pace, come along to one of our sessions -

New Charter Academy (Ashton) - Monday, 6pm to 7pm
Medlock Centre (Droylsden) - Wednesday, 11am to 12noon
Copley Centre (Stalybridge) - Saturday, 3pm to 4pm
