We’re pleased to confirm the signing of defender Aaron Chalmers who signs for the Club from Prestwich Heys.

The experienced centre-half will be no stranger to the Bower Fold faithful, having made 89 appearances across two seasons for Celtic between 2015-2017 in the National League North.

Having spent the last two years captaining Prestwich Heys, where Aaron won a hat-trick of awards at their end of season awards night, Aaron returns to Celtic embarking on a new challenge, nine years after making his debut for the Club in August 2015.

Jumping at the chance to return to Celtic, Aaron said: “I’ve been away for so long but when the opportunity came from James Kinsey and Dan Whiteside to come back to the Club, it was something I wanted to do. I’m really looking forward to seeing what next season brings!”

James Kinsey added more, saying: “Az brings more experience and leadership to our group for next season. He has been a key part of what Prestwich Heys have done last season and has also got fantastic experience from playing at a higher level.

“His demands of others are everything that we would want in a player, which is an added bonus in addition of him being a top player that can play in a couple of different positions.”

Starting his career at Oldham Athletic, making two appearances for The Latics, Aaron spent time with Macclesfield and Hibernian before spells with Mossley, Southport, Ashton, Hyde and Celtic in 2015.

Re-joining Ashton after his first Celtic spell, Aaron has also featured for Buxton before an impressive last two years with Prestwich Heys. Lat season, Aaron was awarded Prestwich Hey’s Manager’s Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Fans Player of the Year after making 41 appearances during 2023-24.

Welcome back to Celtic, Aaron!

The Club will shortly be releasing further information on player movements.
